As a computer science student at UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard), I was required to complete a 6-month internship in a professional environment during my studies. This internship, as an assistant engineer, took place during the second year of the engineering cycle.
Having taken Human-Machine Interface courses during my first year at UTBM and enjoyed the field, I wanted to pursue an internship where I could apply and further develop these skills.
I chose to work for AiBACUS: a startup project led by Mr. Gilles Tonnelier and supported by DECA-BFC, in Besançon. I was particularly interested in the purpose of this internship because it involved creating a graphical interface using tools I had already had the opportunity to work with at UTBM, such as the Python programming language and the Qt framework. Additionally, the internship required the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a field in which I wanted to specialize. For these reasons, this internship was a perfect opportunity for me to apply and expand my knowledge in user interface design and AI—two areas I am passionate about.
As this internship is confidential, I cannot go into detail about the work done but here are key elements I developed:
In conclusion, this internship was a highly enriching experience that provided me with valuable knowledge in software development, graphical interface design, artificial intelligence, data processing/visualization, and more. In addition to technical skills, developing the software largely on my own allowed me to gain greater autonomy. Finally, since I wanted to specialize in artificial intelligence, this internship confirmed my desire to pursue this path further.
